Crews battle small wildfire in Hermantown

HERMANTOWN, MN-- Dry weather helped fuel a small wildfire Monday evening in Hermantown.

According to the Hermantown Fire Department, the fire broke out just after 7 p.m. near Hwy 2 and Lindahl Road, North of the Proctor Rail Yard.

Officials said flames spanned a half-acre in a swamp area.

Crews from Hermantown, Proctor, and the DNR spent about an hour putting it out.

Train traffic was stopped during the firefight.

No one was hurt and no buildings were impacted.
