SUPERIOR, WI-- University of Wisconsin-Superior officials confirmed Wednesday all staff and faculty will be intermittently furloughed beginning July 1.
According to UWS officials, the furloughs are because of revenue losses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
UWS officials say every employee will forfeit one paid day per two-week period. They'll be able to keep benefits such as health insurance and vacation.
According to the university, Chancellor Wachter will take a 15 percent voluntary pay reduction, while all Vice Chancellors will voluntarily reduce their pay by 10 percent.
Officials estimate the temporary furloughs could save the university $1 million.
