Duluth’s BoomTown to open in 2021

DULUTH, MN -- After delays, dodging curveballs, and disinfecting, the new Boomtown location in Duluth has set a date to open.

COVID-19 may have put a wrench in BoomTown's original plans but in a Facebook post Wednesday, the restaurant announced exciting information eluting to a new opening day.

"We are just putting the finishing touches on the interior and setting up the bar," said BoomTown spokesperson via Facebook.

"We are shooting for a Jan 2021 opening and will hopefully be accepting applications after Thanksgiving."

The new establishment admits its been a "rough road" this past year and is taking precautions and waiting until 2021 to open.

Co-owners Erik and Jessica Lietz announced in the summer of 2019 their plans to open the restaurant at the previous location of the Sunset Bar in Duluth this spring.

At the end of March, they announced the postponement to open.


DULUTH, MN-- The owners of BoomTown Woodfire Bar and Grill have announced they will be delaying the opening of their new Duluth location because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Co-owners Erik and Jessica Lietz announced in the summer of 2019 their plans to open the restaurant at the previous location of the Sunset Bar in Duluth this spring.

Jessica Lietz said she doesn't know how long the opening will be delayed. She hopes the current Boomtown Iron Range locations will be back open in May, and then they can start interviewing for Duluth soon afterward.

The Lietz’s own Boomtown Woodfire Bar and Grill in Eveleth and Hibbing, as well as The Whistling Bird in Gilbert.
