TODAY: High pressure off to our NE and low pressure to our SW bring partly to mostly cloudy skies for the bulk of the day today. A breeze out of the E at 3-6 MPH will be keeping us slightly cooler by the lake, with upper 30's near Lake Superior and lower 40's inland. Skies become mostly clear heading into the early hours of Friday with lows in the upper teens and lower 20's.
FRIDAY: A weaker low pressure system will be to our north, bringing partly to mostly cloudy skies throughout our day. Highs will be in the mid 40's with a slight breeze out of the SE at 2-4 MPH. We'll see clouds increase as we head into the overnight hours. Lows will be in the lower 30's.
SATURDAY: We'll begin to see a messy low pressure system move through our area. Chances of precipitation increase as we head into the afternoon, but exact timing is still uncertain as models differ in exact solutions. We'll most likely start with rain, transitioning into a rain/snow mix as we head into the evening hours. Some areas could see some heavy snowfall - as of this morning, those areas look to be along the North Shore of MN and the South Shore of WI. This can definitely change as we head into the rest of the week. Highs will be in the lower 40's with a 60% chance of some snow/rain mix. The mix continues into the overnight hours, eventually transitioning into snow. Lows will be in the low-to-mid 30's. Winds will also be stronger out of the NE at 10-20 MPH during the day, switching to the NNW into the evening.
SUNDAY: Rain/snow mix continues through the morning, along with stronger winds out of the NW at 5-15 MPH. Models differ on when the system exits our region - the EURO keeps the system in the Northland until Sunday evening, while the GFS and NAM have the system leaving the area before noon. Again, we'll have to keep an eye on this system as changes are still expected in the forecast. We'll eventually begin to partially clear out our skies into the evening on Sunday. Highs will be in the mid 40's with lows in the upper 20's.
MONDAY: Partly cloudy skies move back into the region with highs in the upper 40's and lows in the lower 30's.
TUESDAY: We'll see a slight chance for some rain with highs in the upper 40's, lows in the lower 30's, and mostly cloudy skies.
Have a great day folks!
