DULUTH, MN-- After months of searching for candidates to fill the position of Superintendent for Duluth Public Schools, the Duluth School Board has finally made a decision.
The board spent Wednesday interviewing their final three candidates.
After deliberating the board decided to hire John Magas as the new Superintendent of Duluth Public Schools.
Magas currently serves as the Associate Superintendent of Continuous Improvement for Green Bay Area Public Schools.
The board chose Magas because of his track record and ability to build and foster trust in the district he serves.
The board also said that Magas showed an eye towards equity and an ability to strategically plan for the future.
Magas will take the seat of current Superintendent Bill Gronseth on July 1, 2020.
