DULUTH, MN-- During this time of the coronavirus epidemic, many people are out of work and food shelves need donations.
Our Saviors Lutheran Church is a satellite of CHUM's main food shelf.
Previously, Our Saviors Lutheran Church was a great go-to source as an emergency food shelf, but lately, they have been handing out food twice a week.
A consistent stream of people kept Our Saviors Lutheran Church employees very busy Thursday.
Dave Thorton, a member on the CHUM Board, says times are tough and asks if people are able to donate, to do so at this time.
"We encourage people if they have extra food to donate it to a food shelf, or donate it through the supermarkets, they've got places to drop it off, and if they donate money, one dollar can buy seven dollars worth of food," said Thorton.
He said that his food shelf gives out 20 boxes of food twice a week, and on Tuesday all the boxes were gone in just 40 minutes.
