HAYWARD, WI-- Hayward has been selected to host the 55th annual Wisconsin Indian Head Country's Governor's Fishing Opener at the beginning of May.
According to the release, Governor Evers will be attending the opener this year, fishing on the Chippewa Flowage.
The Chippewa Flowage was created in 1923 after damming a portion of the Chippewa River. The flowage features over 15,000 acres of water with more than 140 islands.
A public event will be held at the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame from 11:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. May 1.
The Hall of Fame will have a free fish fry and hosting free tours during this time.
