UMD basketball program dominates NSIC individual awards

DULUTH, Minn. -- In a record-setting season for both the men's and women's basketball programs at UMD, they brought home some individual hardware to show for it.

UMD women's basketball coach Mandy Pearson has been named NSIC Coach of the Year, leading the Bulldogs to back-to-back 20-win seasons. They also won the NSIC regular-season title.

Brooke Olson was named NSIC Player of the Year, averaging over 16 points per conference game. Sarah Grow and Katie Stark were named to the All-NSIC Second team, as well as the All-Defensive team.

On the men's side, Brandon Myer was named NSIC Player of the Year. He averaged over 24 points per game, with seven games over 30 points.

Drew Blair was named to the All-NSIC Second Team, and Alex Illikainen recieved All-NSIC Honorable Mention.
