Noah Cates to lead Bulldogs’ top line in Jackson’s absence

DULUTH, Minn. - According to UMD men's hockey coach Scott Sandelin, forward Jackson Cates will be out "for a while" after suffering an upper-body injury.

In Jackson's absence, his brother Noah will now lead the Bulldogs' top line.

"When you're a team it shouldn't matter where you play and who you play with. Just the guys that are unselfish, they just play their game and that's why they are consistent and that's why they've been good for us," said Sandelin.

"Hopefully we're finding our consistency because we need everyone to be on board with that and like I said whether it's a regular shift, three shifts, four shifts, whether we're killing penalties, whether we're on a power play and we're not going to go much farther if we don't have all those guys and when we do we've shown that we can be a pretty good team."

Up next, UMD heads to Colorado College for a two-game series. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:37 p.m. (CT) on Friday night.
