Chilly tonight/Thursday. Getting warmer for the weekend!

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

TONIGHT:
There’s a high pressure system to our north and a low pressure over Upstate NY. We have a light northerly breeze at 3-6mph with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies. The northern flow will bring a few snow showers for the U.P. as lake effect snow. Morning lows are in the low to mid single digits. Locations around the Iron Range and Borderland are around -5 to -10. The South Shore will see temps near 10.

THURSDAY:
Aloft in the jet stream we have a trough over the eastern U.S. and a ridge to the west. Expect a strong flow over the region that could bring a few thin clouds to the area Thursday. There’s also a chance of some lake effect snow showers for the U.P. The rest of the region has mostly sunny skies with highs in the mi tot upper teens and low 20s. Winds are out of the northwest at 5-10mph.

FRIDAY:
The trough continues east and a strong ridge in the jet swings east as well over the Northland. This gives us a cold start Friday with many locations well below zero. Highs reach the low to mid 20s with sunny skies.

SATURDAY:
The ridge builds further Saturday and warms us up! Ahead of the ridge is a quick shortwave that brings a 20% chance of snow showers during the overnight into Saturday morning.  Morning temps are in the mid single digits and highs are in the low 30s. We have partly cloudy skies.

SUNDAY:
There’s a low pressure system to our north on Sunday. Morning lows are in the low 20s and highs reach the upper 30s. The low is bringing in warmer air from the south. It also brings more clouds. Morning lows are in the low 20s and highs reach the upper 30s.

MONDAY:
A quick shortwave causes enough uplift to warrant a 20% chance of snow showers Monday. Expect mid 20s in the morning and mid 30s by the afternoon. Expect cloudy skies.
