CLOQUET, Minn. -- The communities of Cloquet, Esko, and Carlton gave their hometown girls hockey team a proper send-off to the state tournament on Tuesday morning.

The Lumberjack girls are headed to their first MSHSL State Tournament since 2009, and have earned the three seed in Class A. Their first opponent is Hutchinson.

"We've had really intense practices and our goal was to make it to the state tournament and now that we're there our goal is to continue to rise and hopefully make some noise when we're down there," said head coach Courtney Olin.

"Last few practices have been really good-- clean crisp practices and hopefully we can carry that over into game time."

Puck drop is set for 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center.
