DULUTH, MN -- A big endorsement in the race for Minnesota's 8th congressional district.
Friday, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49 backed Congressman Pete Stauber.
Local 49 members applauded the republican's work to add jobs, and on key labor issues.
Stauber pointed out his efforts to secure a $10.5 million grant for the Duluth seaway port authority.
He says grants like that will help bring jobs for years to come.
"I'm fighting for free and fair trade, I'm pushing for projects that are important for our region, I understand that fighting for jobs and economic drivers in our region, is upmost important.", stated Stauber.
Stauber doesn't have a republican challenger right now, but two democrats are in the race, Quinn Nystrom and Soren Sorensen.
A primary will be held in August with the general election in November.
