DULUTH, Minn. -- The Cromwell-Wright girls basketball team continues to impress with their sixth consecutive win, 59-57 over Duluth Marshall.
The Cardinals have now strung together 3 straight wins over quality Northland teams, including Proctor and Mountin Iron-Buhl.
Cromwell-Wright held a 28-26 lead at halftime, but it was short lived. Grace Kirk led an 11-3 Hilltopper run to open the second half, putting Marshall up 37-31.
Slowly chipping away, the Cardinals had the deficit cut to two points with just over six minutes to play.
Shaily Hakamaki came up clutch in crunch time, finishing a game-tying layup with her right hand.
With under two minutes left, Emmalee Hoover knocked down what would be the game-winning three for Cromwell-Wright in front of the Cardinals bench.
The Cardinals pull out their 6th straight win, living up to their number three QRF position in MSHSL Class A.
Next up, they head to Carlton for a Section 7A matchup against the Bulldogs.
