New day care coming to Downtown Duluth

Duluth, MN- Downtown Duluth will soon be home to a new daycare.

Shelly Vanneste, owner of Mesabi Preschool Academy in Proctor signed the lease Wednesday morning to open a second location in Downtown Duluth.

The space will be in the Wieland Building on Superior Street.

Vanneste plans to hire 13 staff members and have spots for 54 children ranging from infants to preschoolers.

Vanneste says her drive and passion motivated her to fill a need in our region.

"My goal is that, if somebody is working at the Tech Village or even US Bank, parks at their employer's parking lot and walks their child to us each morning," said Vanneste.

They're hoping to be up and ready by this May.
