Search underway for suspect in Hibbing high-speed chase

HIBBING, MN-- Hibbing Police are looking for a man who they say led authorities on a high-speed chase Wednesday.

According to Hibbing Police, an officer stopped Zephaniah James Skarja, 37, who was driving a red Chrysler 300, around 10:25 a.m.

Police Chief Steven Estey says Skarja allegedly drove away from the officer, which led to the pursuit.

The pursuit spanned several blocks before continuing on Highway 169 toward Chisolm.

Estey said the pursuit topped out at speeds nearing 100 mph before officers lost sight of Skarja.

Police eventually found the vehicle unoccupied on Herman Road near Hibbing.

If you know Skarja's location, you are asked to call 911 or the Hibbing Police Department at 218-263-3601.
