Cass, Itasca counties receive state help following October storm

ST. PAUL, MN -- State funds will be used to help Cass and Itasca counties recover from damage done during a strong storm in late October.
The storm, which contained gale-force winds and heavy rains, caused authorities in both counties to declare local emergencies.
A preliminary damage assessment done by the state and county found more than $160,000 in eligible damages, which meets the state disaster assistance threshold.
On Friday, Governor Walz announced the authorization, which will allow the state disaster assistance contingency account to cover 75% of eligible costs, which equals $120,631.
