U.S., Wisconsin state flags ordered to fly at half-staff Wednesday, Thursday

MADISON, WI -- Gov. Tony Evers has ordered all U.S. and state flags to be flown at half staff Wednesday and Thursday in order to honor a former Chairman.

The order, which is in effect for December 18th and 19th, is for former Oneida Nation Chairman Rick Hill.

Evers says Chairman Hill was instrumental in developing and implementing national regulatory standards and policies for tribal government gaming, and under his leadership, the Oneida Nation signed its first gaming compact with the state of Wisconsin.

"Chairman Hill leaves behind a legacy of service not only to the Oneida Tribe and Wisconsin's Native Nations, but to our entire state," said Gov. Evers. "On behalf of the state of Wisconsin, I want to extend my condolences to his family, friends, and the Oneida Nation on his sudden passing."
