DULUTH, MN-- The College of St. Scholastica announced Wednesday morning that they've received two separate grants that will be used for the College's Nursing Program.
Officials say the School of Nursing has been awarded $2.79 million to fund the Advanced Nurse Education Workforce project (ANEW). This is the largest public grant in the history of the College.
This grant will be used to address primary care workforce shortages in rural and under-served communities, as well as strengthening the partnership between Essentia and St. Scholastica.
A separate private grant of $1.125 million was awarded to the school from the Manitou Fund of St. Paul. This is the largest private grant in St. Scholastica history.
College officials say that grant will be used towards completing a series of major renovations to learning spaces within the Nursing Department.
Some of the plans include building two new simulation labs for short-term care and miltidisciplinary healthcare practice for outpatients.
These new facilities are expected to be complete by Spring of 2021.
