DULUTH, MN-- The majority of CWD testing results are in as deer rifle seasons have wrapped up in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
WI DNR officials say 13,176 out of 15,112 sampled deer have been analyzed, with 842 deer testing positive for CWD.
In 2018, 17,197 deer were analyzed in Wisconsin. Of those deer, 1,063 tested positive for CWD.
As for Minnesota, 13,629 out of 16,768 samples have been analyzed. Of those deer, 13 have tested positive for CWD.
This compares with numbers in 2018 when 8,292 samples were analyzed. Of those samples, 38 tested positive for CWD.
New to Minnesota this year was zone 604, where hunters were required to submit samples of harvested deer for CWD testing.
So far in this zone, 3,562 out of 3,916 deer have been analyzed, with zero testing positive for CWD.
