Get Outdoors: Snowshoeing The Fresh Snow

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

DULUTH, MN-"It's winter in Duluth and as you can see there's tons of snow on the ground and that means that it's time for snowshoeing, which were doing today." says David Grandmaison, Co-Owner of The Duluth Experience.

Tons of snow is right. After 3-winter storms in the last couple weeks, the snow-base is perfect for some snoeshoeing.

Grandmaison said, "Oh yeah, I was watching the forecast and just you know, rubbing my hands together excited because once the snow hits we start to get really busy with all the people who want guided adventures outside."

The Duluth Experience will guide trips for people of all experience.

"We really work with people to make sure that we provide them with the best fit to their comfort level. We do like to take people outside of their comfort level just a little bit too just to give them a little bit of excitement but it's really customized to the individual." said Grandmaison.

While on your adventure, you never know what you'll find. And you could learn something new too!

Grandmaison said, "Here's some rabbit tracks, some deer tracks and you can just follow them. It's a great tool to be able to talk about the winter ecology."

Because getting into the wilderness is about more than just a hike, it's an experience.

"Because were the Duluth Experience and we're storytellers. So it's important for us to have the ability to educate have fun and tell stories out in the woods." Grandmaison explained.

Well, it this was the adventure I chose... to go down the steepest hill I could find. What could go wrong?

"This was a bad idea." I say as I start up the hill.

Grandmaison offers the advice, "Yeah I use the sideways technique."

After several minutes of fighting my way up the steep hill, just needed a hand to get over the last bit.

"There we go. All right, high-five!" said Grandmaison .
