DULUTH, MN-- The man accused of shooting and killing his friend at a home in Brevator Township appeared in court Tuesday.
Documents show Thomas Allen Micklewright, 42, was charged with 2nd degree murder after apparently admitting to a 911 dispatcher that he intentionally shot James Arthur Couture, 65, with a .40 caliber pistol on November 9.
He posted $125,000 bail on November 15.
Police say Micklewright and his wife were hosting Couture and his wife throughout the night.
Authorities say they later learned both parties had been consuming alcohol. Preliminary administered breath test results about six hours after the shooting indicated he had a .20 breath alcohol concentration.
Court officials say Micklewright's hearing was rescheduled during Tuesday's court appearance to January 16, 2020.
