St. Louis Co. Sheriff: Driver hit by train unable to stop due to road conditions

EVELETH, MN — Authorities say an Eveleth woman was apparently uninjured after her vehicle was hit by a train Monday afternoon in Clinton Township.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Makenzey Goerdt, 20, was driving west in a Nissan Ultima on Ramshaw Road around 3 p.m. as a Canadian National train approached the intersection.

The Sheriff’s Office says Goerdt was unable to stop her car due to icy road conditions and slid into one of the rail cars.

Authorities say the car was totaled.
