DULUTH, MN — Drivers will want to be aware of a street closure and temporary detours Saturday in the western part of Duluth.
The Far West Days community celebration, which starts Friday and continues through Sunday, will cause a temporary closure on Commonwealth Avenue Saturday and Sunday between Gary Street and Reis Street.
City officials say the closure will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, and will re-open around 4 p.m. on Sunday.
During the event, traffic will be detoured to 99th and 101st Avenues West.
Officials say 99th Avenue West will be signed one-way northbound, and 101st Avenue West will be signed one-way southbound.
Meanwhile, southbound traffic on Commonwealth Avenue will be sent west on Reis Street, south on 101st Avenue West to Gary Street, then east on Gary Street to Commonwealth.
Northbound traffic on Commonwealth will be sent east on Gary Street, north on 99th Avenue West to Reis Street, then west on Reis to Commonwealth Avenue.
In addition, parts of Gary Street, Reis Street, 99th Avenue West and 101st Avenue West will be closed to parking in order for traffic to flow smoothly during the closure.
