YMCA officials to provide membership information on Essentia Wellness Center

PROCTOR, MN — The Duluth Area Family YMCA invites community members to an open house Wednesday, Aug. 14 to learn more about charter memberships at the future Essentia Wellness Center (EWC) in Hermantown.

The open house will be held 4-7 p.m. at the Proctor Area Community Center.

Duluth Area Family YMCA President & CEO Sara Cole and District Vice President Jeramy Katchuba stopped by the KBJR 6 studio to discuss the center’s mission and current progress.

The 72,000 square foot building will host more than 200 employees, and be home to everything from a YMCA, to physical therapy services.

Officials broke ground on July 2018 and expect to finish the EWC by October.

Funding for the facility’s $26 million budget comes from state bonding and local funding from Essentia Health, the City of Hermantown, and existing sales taxes.
