DULUTH, MN — Traffic will be heavy on the ground and in the skies Saturday near the Duluth Airport.
Police say a traffic advisory has been issued due to the Duluth Air and Aviation Expo on Saturday and Sunday, and traffic will be restricted on certain roads in the area.
The following roads are set to be affected by the Air Show:
Anyone wishing to park for the event will need to look for the following color-coded lots:
Green -These lots are for general event parking, and will be found on Airbase Road, and is accessible by Stebner Road from Highway 53, Swan Lake Road from Haines Road, or Airbase Road from Arrowhead Road.
Orange – This is upgraded parking, and tickets for this must be purchased in advance. Tickets are $40, and will be for a private road which takes you back to the highway, and bypass all of the main parking lot congestion.
Blue – These lots will be for disabled parking.
Teal – This will be off-site parking, but will have shuttle access at United Health Care.
Anyone driving a motorcycle, as well as vendors and Air Show volunteers, will have to use Cirrus Drive from Highway 53 to access the Expo.
Officials say only federal prison camp traffic and green lot traffic should use Stebner Road.
All other traffic, including vehicles going to Monaco Air, Federal Express and Cirrus, must use Cirrus Driver from Highway 53.
If traffic gets heavy during the morning hours, police say Stebner Road from Highway 53 to Airbase Road may be turned into a one-way road for the event, as well as from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition, Airbase Road from Stebner Road to Swan Lake Road and Airport Approach Road from Airbase Road to Airport Road will both close to through-traffic from about 8 a.m. until about 6 p.m. each day of the Expo.
