Hermantown celebrates 2 new fire halls

HERMANTOWN, MN — Two new fire halls are bringing the Hermantown Fire Department up to speed with the latest technology.

The city built the new halls over the past year and a half.

The city’s mayor, Wayne Boucher, says they replaced the outdated No. 2 and 3 fire halls that didn’t work with modern fire equipment, and also couldn’t fit the department’s fire trucks.

Community members gathered at the new buildings for a special ceremony Thursday morning, celebrating the big step forward.

“This is a beautiful facility,” Boucher said. “The one that it replaced was built in 1963. Makes me feel great, it represents our city’s continuing commitment to the health and safety of our residents.”

The fire hall celebrations were held during Hermantown’s Summerfest, which runs through Sunday.
