Duluth Denfeld baseball advances to state for first time since 1954

DULUTH, MN – For the first time since 1954, the Duluth Denfeld baseball team has advanced to the state tournament.

The Hunters advanced to the 7AAA final in the winners bracket, meaning that they would have two chances to beat Grand Rapids and advance to state.

Grand Rapids took game one 5-0, forcing a winner-take-all game two at Wade Stadium.

Following a team meeting in center field, Denfeld put up three runs in the first inning to grab an early lead. They eventually pulled away to win 10-3, and claim the 7AAA title.

“It means everything. I can’t even describe what this feels like, you know we’ve been working really hard,” said senior catcher Logan Jasper. “We started off pretty slow but as time went on, we grinded it out, tried to get there, and we got it.”
