Park Point murder suspect pleads guilty

DULUTH, MN–The man accused breaking into a Park Point home and killing the man inside in January has pleaded guilty.

According to the St. Louis County Court Administration Office, Darrel Mayhew, 30, entered that plea during a hearing Thursday morning.

He’s accused of killing Larry Watczak, 70, and stealing some money, a cell phone, and a tablet.

He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder as part of a plea deal. He was set to represent himself during a trial next week.

His sentencing is set for June 17.
