Esko softball wins 4th straight 7AA Championship

CLOQUET,MN – A pair of rivals went head-to-head on Thursday. Esko faced Proctor in the 7AA Championship.

In the semifinal, the Eskomos came away with a 4-3 victory.

Thursday afternoon was a much different story. Esko pitcher Miranda Kelley and Proctor pitcher Kristy Frase exchanged blows in the circle. But things changed with Dea DeLeon hit a two run double.

Esko defeats Proctor 8-1. Eskomos win their 4th straight Section 7AA title.

“It means everything. Every year, we come on, we play our game, we get things done, and that’s all I ever wanted for Esko.” said sophomore pitcher Miranda Kelley.

“It never gets old, for being the fourth year in a row, it never gets old. They’re resilient, they’re resilient. Early in the year when we fell behind, our record was 1-3, we could have rolled over, and said okay well our little run is over, but they didn’t. They worked hard, they continued to work hard, and it was a weird ride, but it was really cool though.” said head coach Jeff Emanuel.

The first round of the MSHSL softball state tournament will begin on June 6th.
