City of Proctor honors fallen veterans and 100th anniversary of Lind-Gordon-Berg Post 106

PROCTOR– Community members gathered at Proctor’s city hall to honor fallen veterans.

The room was packed as a band played the song of each branch of the military.

The ceremony marked the start of the 100th anniversary of Proctor’s Lind-Gordon-Berg Post 1-0-6.

Major Jennifer Peterson was the keynote speaker. She’s a Proctor resident who has 18 years of military experience.

“In the two military branches that I’ve served in, there’s a line in the soldier creed and the airmen’s creed that references never leaving a comrade behind. I believe this means literally don’t leave them on the battlefield of course but I believe it also means to not leave their memory behind because that is how we truly honor the fallen, we remember them,” said Peterson.

After the ceremony, the proctor American Legion Honor Guard carried the tribute to six area cemeteries.
