CASS COUNTY, MN–Three men are safe after being rescued when a strong current swept them into the Gull Lake River.
According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a report of three people in distress around 3:51 p.m. Sunday near the Gull Lake Resort.
They say a man had waded into the water and then got stuck in the current of the mouth of the Gull River where it leaves Gull Lake. Two more men tried to rescue him, but were also swept away by the current.
Two resort guests rescued all three adults and brought them to shore, where they performed first aid until first responders arrived.
The three men were taken to the hospital for observation.
The Cass County Sheriff reports many area lakes and rivers are experiencing high water levels from a near record winter snow melt run off and a wet spring. Caution should be used when in, on and around all bodies of water, especially those with currents and moving water.
