2 sentenced to prison for attempted murder, assault charges

DULUTH, MN — A Duluth man and woman have learned their fate after beating a man with nunchucks, gagging him with a padlock and trying to kill him.

Wade Sorensen, 39, will serve more than 19 years behind bars and will get credit for the 298 days he has already served.

Natausha Smith, 35, will serve 17 1/2 years in prison with credit for nearly a year already served.

The incident happened last March after Smith believed the victim had molested her son while babysitting her children.

According to court documents, Smith had the victim come to her home in Duluth.

Court documents show the victim was hit over the head with nunchucks and tied up before being driven around for about an hour, and was then pushed out of the car.

Sorensen also tried to slit the victim’s neck.

The victim played dead until the assault ended.
