GoFundMe set up for 5-year-old boy critically injured at Mall of America

BLOOMINGTON, MN– A GoFundMe page is set up for the 5-year-old boy police say was thrown from the third floor at the Mall of America Friday morning.

In the story on the page, it reads in part, “He was enjoying a day at the Mall of America with his mom and friend on Friday morning when a stranger maliciously grabbed him and threw him over the 3rd-floor balcony for no apparent reason.”

The page states the 5-year-old’s name is Landen. A picture was included of the boy on the original post but an update on the page states, “We have removed his picture as there have been multiple people trying to copy this GoFundMe page and the family is still requesting privacy and has elected at this point not to share photos at this time.”

Bloomington Police Chief, Jeffrey Potts said in a presser Saturday that the boy is alive but still in the hospital.

The post, which appears to have been created by a family friend states, “Landen has a very long road to recovery ahead of him. He suffered life-threatening injuries, many people who fall from that distance aren’t as lucky to make it. He has many surgeries ahead in his life to try to get back to a normal life for a young, vibrant boy. ”

The fundraising page set a goal of $250,000 which has now been surpassed in just 9 hours, according to the page.
