DULUTH, MN — This week (April 7th-13th) is National Volunteer Week, when people are encouraged to go above and beyond in their daily lives to make a difference.
One person doing just that is Linda Martin. She’s a volunteer at the St. Luke’s gift shop after retiring from her air traffic control job a few years ago.
Martin spends about four hours a week every Friday at the hospital, and says it’s a perfect fit for her.
“St. Luke’s.. was there for me and my family a few years ago,” says Martin. “For a few years we had family members here.. and I just felt a lot of love and support here, and so I kind of wanted to give back–you know.. pay it forward. That’s kind of one reason I came here, and give back to those that may need help.”
