SUPERIOR, WI — City leaders are calling on the Twin Ports to end the cycle of sexual violence.
April is considered Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
Tuesday’s proclamation by Superior Mayor Jim Paine is part of a nationwide effort to bring awareness to the issue of sexual assault.
People are asked to do their part in stopping sexual violence by speaking up, and supporting victims.
Here’s a portion of Mayor Paine’s proclamation:
“Now, therefore, I, Jim Paine. Mayor of the city of Superior… Do hereby proclaim this month of April 2019, Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the city of Superior, Wisconsin, and ask you to join advocates and communities across the country in taking action to help prevent sexual violence. Each day of the year is an opportunity to create change.”
Duluth is kicking off the month with its own proclamation Tuesday at the Zeitgeist Arts Cafe.
Enger Tower will also be lit teal from Wednesday, until April 7th.
