Grimm Announces Candidacy for Fifth District Seat

DULUTH, MN — Ashley Grimm announced today her candidacy for the fifth district city council seat.

A Duluth woman has officially announced her candidacy for the city’s fifth district city council seat.

Ashley Grimm, of Duluth’s Denfeld neighborhood, made the announcement today at Duluth’s City Center West.
Grimm has served on the Duluth Human Rights Commission since 2012, manages children’s and youth programming at the Damiano Center, and serves on two local non-profit boards.

If elected, she believes that as a community they can tackle important issues facing the western neighborhoods. According to Grimm, “We can build a political power to tackle some of the issues that we’ve been trying to face for years. So, when that comes to the education disparities we have for kids here in the western neighborhoods, the opportunity that people have in the western neighborhoods, and the type of housing that we’re really looking at supporting as a community.”

The seat is currently held by Jay Fosle, who has yet to declare any plans to run for re-election.
Candidates can officially file for the position from June 4th until June 18th.
