Ashland City Councilors reject plan involving new police station

ASHLAND, WI — Ashland City Councilors have rejected a final plan to fund a new multi-million dollar police station.

Councilors voted six to four in favor of creating and establishing by-laws for the redevelopment authority.

However, in order for the authority to be authorized, and the bylaws to be approved, the vote must have a two-thirds majority.

The creation of the redevelopment authority was approved at a meeting earlier this month.

The latest vote now leaves the future of the police station up in the air.

The current station is in the basement of city hall.
