Justice Summit teaches hundreds at UMD Campus

Equity, race and ethnicity were big topics at UMD on Wednesday.

The Kirby Center Ballroom hosted nearly 30 workshops which spanned the whole day.
Those in attendance joined in on a variety of discussions centered around achieving justice for everyone regardless of their race, class, or gender.
Event organizers say this event gives people a safe place to learn about the topic.

“I think sometimes when we talk about equity, race and ethnicity sometimes people feel that they do not want to make a mistake, or they don’t know where to start,” said Director of the UMD Office of Diversity and Inclusion Susana Pelayo Woodward. “This is a great opportunity for people to listen, to learn, and to engage in conversation.”

Nearly 600 community members joined the conversation yesterday.
