UPDATE: Superior’s Manning Motel fire deemed suspicious

UPDATE: A fire at the Manning Motel in Superior Wednesday afternoon that left three long-term residents displaced is being called suspicious.

According to the Superior Fire Department’s Battalion Fire Chief, they came to that conclusion based on interviews with people on the scene at the time.

Fire officials would not comment further, as this is an ongoing investigation.

Superior Police are investigating.

Authorities say the fire was contained to one room and caused about $5,000 in damage.

UPDATE: Superior Fire officials say three long-term residents of Superior’s Manning Motel were displaced when the business caught fire Wednesday.

According to the Superior Fire Department, they responded to the motel at 3209 Belknap Street around 2:32 p.m.

Fire officials said when they arrived, one of the rooms was fully engulfed, and the fire was did not spread beyond that room.

Damage is estimated around $5,000.

The cause is under investigation.

SUPERIOR, WI – A Superior motel caught fire Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Superior Fire Department, crews left the scene of the Manning Motel at 3209 Belknap Street around 4:45 p.m.

Fire officials say crews first responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Everyone who was inside at the time was evacuated and officials say no one was injured.

No word on the amount of damage or the cause of the fire, but crews are investigating.
