DULUTH,MN – Hockey day on Saturday will continue with women’s hockey as UMD will host Ohio State. The weekend series with the Buckeyes will begin Friday night. The Bulldogs are no stranger to the showcase.
Last season, UMD faced off with St. Cloud State and finished with a 1-1 tie. This year, the Bulldogs will not play outdoors but instead, they will play at Amsoil Arena. Junior forward Syndey Brodt says the team still talks about last season’s experience and are ready to take the ice.
“Yeah it was super fun to be a part of it last year, in high school I always hoped that I would be able to do the hockey day. Then to get a chance to do it in college, I didn’t expect it so that’s super fun. I think there’s a lot of build up to Hockey Day Minnesota and the Wild playing and all the high school teams being televised so it’s super exciting.” said Brodt.
“There’s a lot of be gained from having that experience, of playing on TV and in front of a lot of people. When that happens again this time, I think they’ll love it. The women’s game, the more we promote it, the better because it’s a great product.” said head coach Maura Crowell.
UMD will start the series on Friday at 7:07 p.m. Saturday game on Fox Sprots North will start at 4:07 p.m.
