Former UMD Coach Brett Larson returns to Duluth, Scott Sandelin weighs in

DULUTH,MN – It will be a bit of a homecoming for former UMD Assistant Coach and current St. Cloud State Head Coach Brett Larson. The first year head coach and the Huskies are coming to Duluth this weekend. Larson worked with UMD Head Coach Scott Sandelin from 2008-2011 and 2015-2018. The Duluth Denfeld graduate even is an alum from UMD. Coach Sandelin says things have changed.

“It’s probably a little different now. It always is when you’re a head coach versus assistant but I don’t think he’s ever going to change as a person. I think he’s always had that and that’s what attracted me to for him coming to work for me the first time was I saw him working with players at our hockey camp and I was really impressed with how he worked with players and communicated with the players and he’s grown and matured since then and been through some different experiences. I think those are the big things and those are important traits.” said Sandelin.

#5 UMD will host #1 St. Cloud State on Friday and Saturday. Game one will start at 7:07 p.m. on the MY9 Sports Network.
