Ely resident claims $1 Million lottery ticket

ROSEVILLE, MN — An Ely man is starting off the New Year with an additional one million dollars.

Andy Gibbons bought his Minnesota Millionaire Raffle ticket at the Voyageur Short Stop on Sheridan Street in Ely.

Gibbons said he double checked his ticket “eight times” to make sure he wasn’t mistaken, and then headed in to work.

In a release, Gibbons says he had work to do, so he went in to the camp he works at and did some cleaning at a few lodges.

Gibbons says the reality didn’t sink in until about nine a.m. that morning, and claimed the prize on Thursday.

The business will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

A second million dollar winning ticket was sold at Superpumper Inc. in Crookston, which has a matching number of 091593. That prize is still unclaimed.
