Bulldogs are preparing for a rematch with the Gophers

DULUTH,MN – UMD Assistant Laura Bellamy continues to lead the Bulldogs in the absence of Maura Crowell.
But unlike the men, they’ve got a game that counts as UMD travels to in-state rival Minnesota.

Back in October, the Bulldogs lost and tied a series against the Golden Gophers at Amsoil Arena. Bellamy says there’s always a little more than a win or a loss on the line when they face the Gophers.

“Just being in a tournament and trying to get ourselves ready for the playoffs down the stretch, it’s good to have a trophy on the line, but the bragging rights too. I think, any time you play the Gophers, especially at their home rink, our players are really excited about that, and the pride factor comes into play a little bit. We’ll just try to not have that be a distraction, but motivation, and I think that’s what the players have used it as so far this week.” said Bellamy.

UMD (6-7-2) will take on Minnesota in the Minnesota Cup. Puck drops on Saturday at 4:07PM.
