UPDATE: CenturyLink resolves outage issue

UPDATE 12/28 — Authorities say a problem with CenturyLink has now been resolved.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff, all issues with landline calls to 911 have been resolved, and all service has been fully restored.

12/27 — Anyone in St. Louis County who needs to report an emergency is being asked to use a cell phone to call 911 due to a CenturyLink outage.

Authorities say the outage is affecting counties differently, and land lines in St. Louis County are being affected sporadically.

According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, all major cell phone companies appear to be working as they should.

If you do not have a cell phone and you are having trouble getting through to 911, you can call the administrative line at 218-625-3581.

Meanwhile, Cook County authorities say 911 service is not impacted, and all test calls have come through. They added that CenturyLink customers may experience a landline phone outage.

Authorities say an update will be issued once full service is restored.
