Seventeen Ely teachers are suing their school district.
According to court documents, those teachers were allegedly each overpaid about $1,085 over several of their paychecks during the 2017-2018 school year.
The lawsuit, which all 17 teachers have signed, claims that the Ely School District compensated for overpaying by deducting that money out of their paychecks later in the year.
In the lawsuit, the teachers claim the district did not get authorization to deduct that money.
Now, the teachers are asking the district pay them back $2,251, which is double the amount they were originally overpaid plus a $75 filing fee.
CBS 3 Duluth/KBJR 6 reached out to the Ely School District’s attorney, but have not heard back.
