Former UMD W. Hockey Coach Shannon Miller resigns from CWHL team

CALGARY, ALTA –  Former UMD head women’s hockey coach Shannon Miller is leaving the Calgary Inferno. The CWHL (Canadian Women’s Hockey League) team announced today that assistant coaches Ryan Hilderman, Becky McGee and Mandi Duhamel will remain with the team.

Miller joined the Inferno on June 2018.

“The Inferno thank Shannon for her contributions to the program during her time with the team and wish her the best in her future endeavors,” remarked Inferno general manager Kristen Hagg.

Calgary is 10-1-0-1 this season and is in 1st place in the CWHL.

Miller was the first UMD head women’s hockey coach and stayed in that position from 1999-2015. She finished with a record of 383-144-50 and earned 5 NCAA National Championships (2001,2002,2003,2008,2010).

After the school didn’t renew her contract in 2014, she filed a discrimination lawsuit against the school and was awarded almost $3.75 million in March 2018 by a U.S. federal jury.
