The Christmas City of the North parade filled Superior Street with lights, smiles, and a lot of talent.
Kristi Stokes, president of the Greater Downtown Council was excited that everyone could enjoy the newly reconstructed Superior Street.
“We have a renewed Superior Street which we just opened in the last few days the final stretch of the first stage so that’s exciting, and it was enough to welcome everyone into the downtown,” she said.
Also, Friday night the classic Christmas City song made famous by Merv Griffin got a remake, so we had to stop Laura Velvet and the Bookhouse Boys at the parade.
“Christmas city wonderful city all dressed up in snow and mistletoe,” they sang.
The Duluth band has been looking to pay tribute to their city. by remaking the classic Christmas City song.
“It’s the anniversary of the parade this year and it’s a big year for everyone and it’s really cool for the tradition,” said Laura Velvet and the Bookhouse Boys members.
And we can’t forget Santa.
“I’ll be back to Duluth in what like 4, 5 or 6 weeks,” he said.
With a message to get Duluthians in the Christmas spirit.
“We want everyone to be good you know we’re looking out or everyone who’s naughty or nice,” said Santa.
