DULUTH, MN – A fundraiser was held in Duluth on Sunday to help raise money for victims of Hurricane Michael.
Duluth natives Jonathan Lee and Jessica Chatterton were at the heart of the storm when it was at its worst.
They live in Panama City, Florida, and decided to come home to put on a fundraiser at Carmody Irish Pub.
Though their home was badly damaged and could probably use the money themselves, they decided that all proceeds would go to the displaced young students of Panama City.
They have their own problems to deal with, but are proud to help lend a hand to those who need it more.
“We’re going to be fine,” Lee said. “Well, I mean, we’re going to jump through hoops. We’ll have the same complaints that a lot of the people will have to recover from this, but some of these kids, they’re not going to be fine, so we just want to make sure that they’re going to have some clothes if they need it, that if they need food they’re going to have it, and I have no problem with that.”
The couple will head back to Panama City Monday morning to begin rebuilding their home.
