$1M referendum fails in Ashland County

Voters have turned down a referendum which would have increased property taxes for the next five years.

The increase would have covered the cost of police wages, prison sentences, and child care needed to address the area’s opioid problem.

According to the County Clerk’s Office, the referendum failed by an unofficial vote of 1,988 to 1,098.
