Award-winning children’s book author returns to Superior

An award-winning children’s author was in Superior Saturday.

Tracy Nelson Maurer was born and raised just outside of Superior but now resides near Minneapolis.

On Saturday, she returned to Superior to read her picture-books, "Storm Codes" and "John Deere, That’s Who!"

Maurer has been a professional writer for more than 25 years, and also develops, writes, and edits for business publications and websites, as well as marketing and advertising materials.

But her biggest passion is children’s books and books for young adults.

"I love to do readings with the kids. That’s the best part once it’s all done; is to actually share them with the kids who are reading them. And we like to sing songs and do things and that makes it all come alive. Especially when it’s about history or biographies. To make those people come alive to the kids, that’s magical," she said.

Maurer graduated from Superior Senior High School and has published more than 100 books for children and young adults.
